I feel like such a blog hopper. It’s only been 12 years and I’m already on my 4th blog theme. I know, flippant Phil.
As a journalist I love historical records and as a nostalgic pack rat I keep everything just in case I run out of cheese … Well, now I’ve reposted my old writings from college (Oral Roberts University’s student newspaper – The Oracle), grad school and my musings over the past 10 years of teaching. These sites were never finished, but contain a lot of stuff that isn’t half bad. Peruse at your own risk. And yes, there are a lot of missing links that are still missing. Though if you’d like I could draw you a picture and put it in your textbook to show you what the missing links look like even though I’ve never seen them.
Maybe the next time I’m snowed in (today is the 3rd day school was cancelled) I’ll go back and select and repost the better articles. Until then here are the links to my old sites.
Original Philipfiles: I spent a lot of time on the design of this site in grad school. I’m still real proud of the buttons and graphics. Other than that it was a pain to keep up and update since everything had to be done manually.
2nd Philipfiles: Inspired by all of the filing cabinets at my first school (Mary Orr) this site is the repository of most of my Oracle Writings. Go to Writings and the click on the ORU cabinet. If an article is listed but doesn’t have a link, e-mail me and I’ll get it scanned and posted. If this is too much work then just image reading something really deep, quirky and with a humorous aftertaste. Actually, just do that and I become a redundancy.
3rd Philipfiles: The first real blog. I often wish I had been more disciplined about writing in my blog over the years. I’ve had so many ideas come and go without ever seeing the artificial light of the screen. I could make the excuse that I’ve been busy with marriage, raising 6 children, church, teaching and starting my own production company… actually, I like that excuse let’s go with it. In the future I intend to do better about writing regularly in this new blog, but on a list of my priorities this ranks very low. Now if someone were to hire and actually pay me… I think I could reprioritize.
4th philipfiles: Well this is the site. Let me know what you think. I’m excited about the new look and flexibility of modern blogging software. Plus I’ll be doing affiliate programs and promoting the videos my company produces so who knows I may actually start making money.
