April showers brings blogs…

April’s Fools Day: An appropriate day to launch the new version of The Philip Files. Not that I think that I’m a fool, but what fool really considers themself an imbecile. For that matter what “bad guy” considers themself a BAD GUY? In our autobiographies we are all the good guys…

So this fool’s day comparison. I’m a foolish, uncreative mimic, and I’m proud of it. Now the things I write might sound wise, insightful and original but don’t be taken, I’m just channeling the ideas, concepts and teachings of men and women much wiser and deader then myself. People like C.S. Lewis, Athanasius, Charles Dickens, David and Jesus.

(Is the fact that I’m dropping names in my first entry a bad sign?)

The truth that these men espoused and taught others (through magical myths, theological treatises, compelling characters, poetry and psalms, and parables) is just as powerful today as it was ages ago. Me, I’m just a bad forger. Don’t get me wrong the presentation of these truths is my own (I don’t plagiarize – I enjoy my own writings too much to not put my own voice to truth) but the truths were here a long time before me and will be a long time after I’m pushing up daisies.

The site’s tag: “Because the truth is important.” I like it (obviously), but I’m not claiming a corner on truth. I’m a truth seeker. I want to know the truth and I want to share this truth with others. I really do believe, as Jesus once said, “the truth shall set you free.” There is so much hurt, confusion, bitterness and depression in our world. I think this is because the truth is not known and if known, not practiced.

The secondary tag: “On a level playing field, the truth will always win.” I think this quote is mine, but I may have read it somewhere, so I’m not claiming it but I’m not denying it either. On Google it only brings up my stuff, but a variation of it could be out there, and there are these other things… books I think they are called, that have stuff that isn’t on the internet yet. I might have borrowed it from one of them. Regardless, the truth trumps lies and will win all things being equal. Course things aren’t always equal and the evil in the world will try to ensure that the scales are rigged, and that our eyes are blinded to the fix. The job of honest men and women then is to expose the lies, open the eyes and let truth speak for itself.

Ergo, the goal of this site is quite foolish; to be a place where truth is discussed openly (not argued over, but discussed in a civil honest manner on a level playing field) with the hope that this truth will be discovered, and when discovered acted upon and that this will set people free.

Oh, how I love the smell of napalm… I mean optimism, in the morning.

So I am a fool, but I’d have it no other way.
